What is "The Book Society"
  • An intellectual club
Our goal is to create a community of people for whom reading is a key practice of thinking in a world of AI, fast content, and the decline of deep text. We bring together those who consciously cultivate their natural intelligence - the ability to think, question, understand meaning, and remain intellectually independent in the age of algorithms.
  • Our main instruments are "The Book" and "The Brain"
We use reading and the analysis of books to deepen our understanding of ourselves and the world. Some books have the power to foster inner growth, deepen one’s worldview, and expand the scale of one’s personality.
  • We choose books that shape one’s worldview
Books are not chosen from bestseller lists or literary prize shortlists. Instead, we curate works of non-fiction, practical philosophy, and literature that challenge how we see the world and invite deeper, independent thinking.
  • We don't "just read" together
We work with texts through psycho-philosophical reflection, elements of hermeneutic interpretation, bibliotherapy, and methods that develop metacognitive awareness. The goal is not to collect quotations or simply discuss the plot, but to deepen the quality of thinking and expand one’s worldview.
What can you gain from participating in the club?
  • A high-quality intellectual experience
  • The accumulation of intellectual capital
  • A sustainable reading practice
  • Access to carefully curated books
  • Becoming a more thoughtful and engaging conversation partner
  • A broader outlook and deeper interpretation of texts
  • A gentle form of self-reflection and personal insight through reading
  • Improved attention and concentration
  • Less conventional, more independent thinking
  • The ability to articulate your own ideas more clearly and precisely
  • The skill to distinguish knowledge from opinion, and arguments from manipulation
How It Works
There are two options
  • Start your own group
You can create a private reading group for your own circle - friends, colleagues, or community.
Together we can design a reading experience tailored to your group’s interests and goals. This will include themes such as personal development, philosophy, psychology, literature, or reflective reading. Private groups allow you to read and discuss books with people you already know while benefiting from a professionally guided structure. Group size: at least 6 and up to 10 participants.
  • Join an existing groups
You can join one of the reading groups that is already forming. These groups bring together people who share an interest in thoughtful reading, reflection, and meaningful conversation but do not know each other. Groups are intentionally kept small (6-10 people) to allow for deeper discussion and personal connection. Groups meet online or offline, if everyone is in one city. One of the group members can be trained and mentored to moderate the group.
